Care & safety
Looking after engraved glass.
The engraving itself needs no looking after — it is cut into the glass, so there is nothing to peel, fade or wash off. The glass is the part worth being careful with.
The short version
Dishwasher safe, including commercial glasswashers. Do not put boiling liquid into a cold glass or a hot glass into cold water. Do not use it as a candle holder. That covers almost everything.

Safety information
This applies to everything we send, whatever the glass.
- Minor cosmetic variations such as small bubbles or surface marks are a natural part of the glassmaking process and are not faults.
- Not a toy. Not suitable for children under 5 due to breakage risk.
- Handle with care — glass may break if dropped or knocked, and broken glass can cause injury.
- Dispose of broken glass responsibly via household recycling.
Thermal shock, briefly
Almost every glass that breaks in normal use breaks because of a sudden temperature change rather than a knock. Toughened and tempered glass copes with this far better than untoughened glass, which is why most of our range is toughened — but no glass is immune. In practice: let a glass come back to room temperature before it goes near hot water, and do not pour a hot drink into anything except the tempered mug.
If something arrives damaged
Send us a photograph within 48 hours of delivery and we will replace it. There is nothing to send back and no return postage to pay. We ask for the photo quickly because it tells us whether the parcel was damaged in transit, which is something we need to raise with the courier while they will still look at it. Full detail is on the delivery and returns page.
Is the engraving food safe?
Yes. Nothing is added to the glass. There are no inks, dyes, coatings, vinyl or decals involved at any point — the laser removes a fine layer of the glass surface, and what you are left with is glass. All our stock is lead-free.
Any question we have not answered?
If you are wondering whether a particular glass will survive a particular thing, ask. We would much rather tell you before you order than after.
